There was a time in my life when I tried to act and dress like the people around me. I wanted to buy American Eagle pants because that's what everyone else wore to school. I let people tell me that middle parts weren't a thing. Yeah, who's laughing now? After about a year of that misery, I realized something. Who cares? Whether it's good or a bad, I have a certain style. It's a combination of things. I love the tailored sophisticated look of the Brits as well as the effortless chic of the French. I don't really follow the "It" trend because I know what works for me. Bulky jewelry has never and will never be a good thing on me. I don't care how "cool" sequins are - it's not going to happen. But that's me. That's my style. And that's what it's about, right? It's how you express yourself, not how the people around you do so. So if my 70s French Riviera meets corporate style isn't your thing, good. Find what is.
I've always loved Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. They don't allow their height to dictate how they dress. They wear baggy things yet still manage to look polished and sophisticated. I pulled up my hair in a slick pony and wore a pair of nude pumps to contrast the relaxed/pajama-like look.
