I really love my corporate job. It empowers me. I’m constantly challenged and I genuinely feel satisfied when I get in my car at the end of the day. But I’m exhausted. And sometimes I feel like there isn’t enough time for anything else. Writing, photography, blogging...what’s the point?
Because I love it. Because it makes me happy. Because it relieves stress. And frankly, because I want to. It has nothing to do with anyone else. No guidelines, no expectations, just me. And when I find the time to do these things, I’m the happiest. I don’t do these things to make money or to prove anything to anyone. My day job has absolutely nothing to do with fashion, skincare or travel. To be honest, it's probably one of the farthest things from it. But passion is part of life. Whether it’s dancing, writing, sports or weaving, it’s important to do what you love for YOU. Not for anyone else.
I'm blessed with a great support system. But the reality is not everyone is going to support you and your passion. Not everyone is going to agree with you or understand why you do it. And that's okay. Ignore the people who emit negative energy. Surround yourself with people who bring you up, not down. Life is too short. Do what you love for yourself. 10 followers. 100,000 followers. I will nevertheless continue to pursue the things I love. And you should too.
How blessed am I to have such an incredibly talented person be one of my dearest friends? Photographed by Andrew Jefferis.
